2. Lab Facilities : The Lab is a multi-purpose facility, offering the following functions:
| Production Space |

A 100 Sq. M production studio, with full lighting control both from uposatirs gallery and on the studio floor, with 60 luminaires of various types, including cyce and Cool Lights.
The studio employs a lighting and equipment grid covering the whole size floor, and both Pantogrpha and other supports can be used for maximum flexibility. The studio floor is sound-insulated and treated to a high standard. Up to four High-Definition Z1U cameras are available for work within the studio. |
Exhibition Space |

The same studio can be used as an exhibition space, for 2D, 3D, or 4D (time-based) work. This space can operate with balckouit and artcificial exhibition lighting, or with daylight, by rolling the blinds up the main studio wall. Up to 36 channels of video/audio can be presented within the studio space, or in the vicinity, by the use of WIFI. Monitors and projectors can be arranged in any way which the production requires. The size and type of the space allows for combinations of pre-recorded and pre-programmed material with live performances. |
Editing Space |

There are six Edit Suites, all served by the high-capacity Sony DV Station (From January 2007, HDV Station) Edit Server, allowing a number of editors to combine work ona project.
The editing software used includes FCPro, Edius Canopus, Avid Liquid 7.0, and Sony Vegas, all installed on dedicated computers. All material is ingested and saved onto the Sony DV Station Edit Server. |
Programming Space |

The programming of multi-channel video installations is enabled by the powerful Sony Ziris system with its own server. Mareial edited on any of the Edit software/hardware combinations, and saved on the Sony DV Station Edit Server, can be easily and flexibly programmed into multi-chnnel video presentations of up to 36 channels or tracks.
This is assited bya matrix of 36 screens onto which the programming is displayed. Each video line is sown both in the Programming suite, and downstairs in the Exhibition Space. All channels are switchable both by software and hardware. |
Picture Space |

A Picture Editing Suite enables the scanning, treatment, editing and printing of photographic and graphich images, on varying sizes and configurations of between A4 and A0, as well as onto paper rolls. Scanning is also possible from all film sizes up to 60mm Square. |
Sound Space |

A powerful Mac G5 with audio software, based around the ProTools suite, is available for advanced audio work, from recording, treatment, editing and mixing, to support video and multi-channel video work, as well as autonomous audio work. |
Location Kit |
 |
A series of location kits, for both video and still photography, are available for researchers on location productions. The mainstay is the video High-defintion camera, Sont Z1U, provided with Senheiser michrophones and a body brace.
The Still Photography equipment includes 35mm film camera, the Nikon F70, a 60mm by 45mm film camera, the Mamiya 645, and a high defintion digital camera, the Nikon D70. |
